(Daily Guardian Multi-Media Services, Inc., 2022-11-16)A whale shark locally known as “butanding” was released to the waters after it was trapped in a fish cage in Barangay Banago here yesterday. Commander Joe Luviz Mercurio, head of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) northern Negros Occidental, said they received a report around 7 a.m., prompting Coast Guard personnel to respond.
- Green sea turtle found in SagayMasculino, Glazyl Y. (DailyGuardian, 2022-12-06)A green sea turtle was rescued after it was stranded on the coastline of Barangay Taba-ao, Sagay City, Negros Occidental last Sunday. Based on the report of the Sagay Marine Reserve (SMR), the turtle got stranded in one of the fishnets of a fishing boat on the shore of Purok Paglaum. The male sea turtle weighed 150 kilograms and measured 47 inches in length and 38 inches in width.
- No oil spill from stranded barge in Antique - PCG(Panay News, Inc., 2019-08-07)Authorities here said they have not detected any oil spill from the stranded barge off the coast of this capital town. The Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) clarified on Monday that they have not found any oil spill when they inspected the stranded barge. ENRO provincial head Vivian Marfil said there was no oil spill contrary to the report of residents living along the coastline. The inspection was done on July 30.
