(Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation, 2022-03-25)There is an increasing number of Filipino fishermen who are casting their nets in Bajo de Masinloc, Zambales to earn a living despite the steady presence of China Coast Guard (CCG), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Friday, March 25. “The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has confirmed the increasing presence of Filipino fishermen in Bajo de Masinloc, Zambales,” said Admiral Artemio Abu, PCG commandant, in a statement. Bajo de Masinloc, also known as Scarborough Shoal and Panatag Shoal, is located 124 nautical miles west of Zambales, and is within the country’s 200-nautical mile exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

The PCG said from February 28 to March 5, they monitored around 45 Filipino fishing boats in the area.
