The MV Hong Hai, a Sierra Leone-registered dredger, sank 400 yards away from Sisiman Lighthouse in Mariveles at around 5:21 a.m. on Saturday, after colliding with the MT Petite Soeur, a a Marshall Island-flagged chemical and oil product tanker in the waters off Corregidor Island.

There is only a small oil sheen but just the same, our oil spill response team is already there and we would be able to contain it right away.”

Simularity’s earlier report showing swarms of Chinese ships anchored in Philippine-claimed areas in the South China Sea dumping human waste only covered Union Banks, founder and Chief Executive Officer Liz Derr told a virtual forum hosted by the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines. “That was just for the 236 ships that we saw in Union Banks in June,” she said. “There are actually more ships in the Spratlys that I did not count, the ones in Gaven or Thitu.”
- Oil spill detected in Manila BaySantos, Pat C. (Concept & Information Group, Inc., 2021-04-27)The Manila Department of Public Services (MDPS) called the attention of authorities regarding an oil spill in Manila Bay last Saturday. Kenneth Amurao, MDPS chief, reported to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso over the weekend the findings of Team Mandaragat, the unit tasked to clean the bay. In the report, Amurao said while they were cleaning the bay area last Saturday, 24 April, they observed the presence of oil in the water and noticed a yellow stain on the seawall near the Manila Yacht Club.
