- Oil siphoning from Terra Nova stopped due to EntengMacairan, Evelyn (Philippine Star Printing Co., Inc., 2024-09-03)Rough sea conditions due to Tropical Storm Enteng prompted the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to stop the oil siphoning operations on the sunken motor tanker Terra Nova yesterday. “The contracted salvor, Harbor Star, secured all siphoning lines and containment equipment, closed all hot taps and postponed the transfer of oily waste,” the PCG said.
- Oil sheen seen from sunken yacht off TubbatahaMacairan, Evelyn; Ong, Ghio (Philippine Star Printing Co., Inc., 2023-05-02)An oil sheen was reportedly seen coming from the dive yacht M/Y Dream Keeper that sank some four nautical miles from the Tubbataha Reefs Marine Park. Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spokesman Rear Admiral Armand Balilo yesterday reported that “an oil sheen was seen from the site where the Dream Keeper sank. There is only a small oil sheen but just the same, our oil spill response team is already there and we would be able to contain it right away.”
- PCG continues cleanup of M/V Princess of the Stars oil spillMacairan, Evelyn (Philippine Star Printing Co., Inc., 2010-06-06)The Philippine Coast Guard is continuing its clean up operations on the 400 liters of oily mixture from the sunken M/V Princess of the Stars that spilled out into the coastline of San Fernando, Romblon on May 31. In a statement, the PCG reported that the oil spill came out of the engine room as they were pumping air to refloat the vessel on May 31. The PCG-Marine Environment Protection Unit personnel conducted a shoreline inspection and discovered traces of oil spill.
