The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has imposed a shellfish ban in Masbate. In Shellfish Bulletin 20, BFAR said shellfish gathered from the waters of Mandaon in Masbate were found positive for the algae that produces the red tide toxin. Irong-Irong Bay in Western Samar also remains positive for paralytic shellfish poison that is beyond the regulatory limit.
