    Illegal fishing blasts dolphins in Camarines Sur

    More than 10 dolphins were killed while 15 others were stranded at the shores of Del Gallego town in Camarines Sur province, Bicol Region on Tuesday because of illegal fishing activities, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said. Nonie Enolva, BFAR regional spokesman, said 13 of the 25 Fraser’s dolphins (Lagenodelphis hosei) were found dead at Barangay Magais 1 in Del Gallego on Tuesday.

    Leatherback turtle fished out from Ragay

    A big leatherback sea turtle weighing 500 kilograms was fished out by local fisherman from the waters of Ragay Gulf in Bicol on Thursday. Nonie Enolva, regional spokesman for Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, said the 1.75-meter long sea turtle was found by Alberto Pasamba. Enolva said this was the second time that a leatherback sea turtle was found in the same area of Ragay Gulf.
