- No oil spill from stranded barge in Antique - PCG(Panay News, Inc., 2019-08-07)Authorities here said they have not detected any oil spill from the stranded barge off the coast of this capital town. The Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) clarified on Monday that they have not found any oil spill when they inspected the stranded barge. ENRO provincial head Vivian Marfil said there was no oil spill contrary to the report of residents living along the coastline. The inspection was done on July 30.
- Sea trips for small vessels halted due to gale warningYasa, Dolly (Daily Guardian Multi-Media Services, Inc., 2019-08-06)A gale warning was issued morning of Aug 5, 2019 in Western Visayas, forcing the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to again cancel sea trips between Bacolod City and Iloilo City. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) said Western Visayas is expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. PAGASA said the region can also experience 45 to 63 kilometers per hour winds, with sea conditions from rough to very rough and wave heights measured between 2.8 to 4.5 meters.
- All set for oil recovery: Guimaras oil recovery operation second in historyGarcia, Erly C. (TNT Publishing, Inc., 2007-03-12)Recovery operations for the remaining oil inside the compartments of sunken tanker MT Solar 1 off the waters of Guimaras will already start as scheduled this Wednesday, March 14. Allied Shield, the recovery vessel of Italy-based Sonsub Limited, has already arrived in Bacolod City last Saturday. Sonsub was contracted by the Protection and Indemnity (P&I) Club, an insurer of the Solar 1 to retrieve any remaining oil on the ill-fated vessel presently lying under 640 meters of water.
