- No red tide in CLArcellaz, Princess Clea (Sun • Star Publishing, 2024-10-19)The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said shellfish samples collected in Central Luzon are free from the toxic red tide. Based on Shellfish Bulletin No. 26 Series of 2024 issued October 16, 2024, BFAR said the coastal waters of Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan and Zambales are safe from the water toxin. Alll types of shellfish gathered from these areas are safe for human consumption, the BFAR said.
- No red tide in PampangaArcellaz, Princess Clea (Sun • Star Publishing, 2022-12-14)Pampanga waters remain free from red tide toxin, according to an advisory from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR). BFAR Shellfish Bulletin No. 24 Series of 2022 noted that toxic red tide was not detected from samples collected from Pampanga coastal waters. This means that all types of shellfish gathered from the province are safe for human consumption.
- Marilao River gets 8K mangrove shootsReyes, Jonas (Concept & Information Group, Inc., 2022-05-28)Around 60 local fisherfolk along with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Central Luzon (BFAR3) and the local government unit here planted 8,000 mangrove shoots at the Marilao River. BFAR3 regional director Wilfredo Cruz revealed that the planting of 8,000 mangrove shoots is to improve the water quality of the Marilao River, adding that the mangrove propagules were planted in Barangay Nagbalon. Nagbalon Creek, a minor water channel of the said river, will have mangroves across the earthworks and will cover a hectare of mangrove rehabilitated area.
- Speaker's shark preservation bill gets OKPorcalla, Delon (Philippine Star Printing Co., Inc., 2019-02-06)Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s bill that calls for the preservation of sharks in the country and provides for their regulation was approved on third and final reading on Monday. A total of 174 lawmakers voted to approve House Bill 8926 (Shark Conservation Act) regulating the catching, sale, purchase, possession, transportation, importation and exportation of all sharks, rays and chimaeras in the country. The congresswoman from Pampanga said the measure aims to address the extinction of marine wildlife and achieve a balance between human needs and the integrity of the Philippine marine ecosystem.
- Red tide hits Cancabato Bay in LeyteGomez, Eireene Jairee (The Manila Times Publishing Corporation, 2019-01-16)The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) on Tuesday warned the public from harvesting and eating shellfish from Cancabato Bay in Tacloban City that had been added to the list of areas found positive for the red tide toxin. BFAR said Matarinao Bay in Eastern Samar; Lianga Bay in Surigao del Sur; coastal waters of Dauis and Tagbilaran City in Bohol; Puerto Princesa Bay, Puerto Princesa City in Palawan; and the coastal waters of Pampanga and Bataan (Mariveles, Limay, Orion, Pilar, Balanga, Orani, Abucay and Samal) were still positive for paralytic shellfish poison that is beyond the regulatory limit.

- BFAR R3 builds 22 fishportsDizon, Romeo (Philippine Manila Standard Publishing, Inc., 2016-09-17)The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Central Luzon is constructing 22 community fishing ports worth P65 million throughout the region to help fishermen earn more for their families. The community fishing ports, each measuring about 1,000 square meters and amounting to P3 million, are located in Aurora, Zambales, and Bataan, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Central Luzon regional director Wilfredo Cruz said. Once finished, all the catches of the fishermen will be delivered to the ports for retailers and whole sellers at unified prices.
