In a text message to the BusinessMirror, Marina National Capital Region Director Marc Anthony Pascua said the agency has conducted an investigation into the report submitted by the National Coast Watch Center (NCWC) and has taken action against the alleged perpetrators.

In a report submitted to the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina), the NCWC said Chinese vessels allegedly conducted dredging of reclamation sand and transported it to the reclamation areas on Manila Bay.

Allied Shield, the recovery vessel of Italy-based Sonsub Limited, has already arrived in Bacolod City last Saturday. Sonsub was contracted by the Protection and Indemnity (P&I) Club, an insurer of the Solar 1 to retrieve any remaining oil on the ill-fated vessel presently lying under 640 meters of water.
